Q). Why can't I use my own cell phone in other countries?

A). The standards and equipment we use in the USA are incompatible with the GSM (Global System for worldwide Mobile communication) 900/1800 standards used abroad. The cellular phone service we provide is compatible with the local standards of the countries you will be visiting.

Q). How do callers reach me?

A). Your GSM phone roams in over 130 countries. Regardless of what country you may be visiting at the moment, your callers would always dial the same pre assigned phone number to contact you.

Q). Can I use my own phone number?

A). We use a foreign based service and the number is a mobile phone number from the country where it is registered. However, you may check with your local phone service provider about call forwarding to that phone number and the cost of forwarded calls to that country.

Q). Do you have voicemail with the phones and what are the costs?

A). Voicemail is standard with the cellular phones but not with the satellite phones. The cost to call into voicemail is the cost to call the country of the phone you are using. For example, if you are using a UK based phone number, you need to call the UK to get your messages. If you have an incoming call forwarded to voicemail, it will also be chargeable at the rate to call the country where the voicemail is located.

Q). How is the cellular phone coverage?

A). Considering the service we provide deals with over 300 service providers in over 130 countries, the overall coverage is quite good. However, due to the complexity and the many variable involved, no one can guarantee coverage for any particular location at any particular time. To get a general idea of what the coverage looks like for the countries your will be traveling through, the following site have the listings of GSM providers around the world and their coverage maps - http://www.gsmworld.com/gsminfo/index.htm

Q). I just placed my order. When will I receive my phone?

A). Once we confirm you order (you should receive confirmation within 24 hours of your order), you should expect your phone to arrive by the date you entered on the order page. Your phone number would normally be sent to you two days prior to your phone delivery date.

Q). How will I be charged for my phone rental?

A). The phone rental is generally secured by your credit card. The shipping and activation charges are processed prior to begin date of your rental; this would be the date your phone was delivered. In addition, a $500.00 authorization is required from your credit card for cellular phone rentals, and a $1,000.00 authorization is required for satellite phone rentals. If your charges meet or exceed the authorized amounts prior to the end date of the phone rental, we would charge the balance and request another authorization.

When the phone is returned to us the rental ends, and at that point we would start processing the calls made during your rental period. For GSM cellular phones, most if not all calls should be processed within 14 days, and we would charge your credit card at that time and send you a statement of charges with your call details. Occasions due arise where some networks' data are delayed and additional phone calls arrive after the initial bill was process. This would create a second billing where those late calls would be charged and additional statements will be sent.

Satellite call data takes longer to process and generally billing takes place about four weeks after the rental has ended.
